The Reference Desk is located to the left of the front entrance. This desk is staffed by librarians from 10am - 9pm, Monday through Thursday, 10am-3pm on Friday, and 4pm - 9pm on Sundays.
The librarians are here to help students with all their research needs. No question is too simple or too complex. We will assist you in locating appropriate sources for your work, helping you chose the appropriate database, and even provide a stapler for your paper when it is completed.
We strongly recommend students visit the Reference Desk as early as possible in their research process. One of the comments we hear the most is, "I wish I had come to you earlier!"

What is Interlibrary Loan (or ILL)?
Interlibrary Loan is the process by which materials not owned by the DiPietro Library are requested from another library.
Who can request materials via ILL?
Any current undergraduate or graduate student, FPU faculty, and FPU staff. Local patrons should request ILL materials from their public library.
Do I need to know what library has the material I need?
No. We are a member of OCLC, a world-wide network that allows us to search for materials that have been requested.
How long does it take for ILL's to arrive?
It depends on the material (book or article) and the library filling the request. The DiPietro Library sends out most requests the day they are received. Articles that are sent electronically may arrive as quickly as 24 hours, but you should plan on 3-5 days. Books that come from a distance may take 7-10 days.
What if I need something faster than that?
We are not able to ‘rush’ items. When planning your research process, allow the necessary time for any interlibrary loans to arrive.
What can I borrow?
We will borrow books, articles, and dissertations. We do not borrow videos, dvds, or video games. Undergraduates wishing to borrow a dissertation will be referred to a Reference Librarian for research assistance.
If I am in a graduate program how do I get my items?
Articles are yours to keep and are usually forwarded to you electronically, unless you requested that they be printed or if the article is lengthy and received in printed format. Materials that must be returned to the lending library will be sent to will be sent to your home address. You will be responsible for return postage, items must be returned to the DiPietro Library by a method that is insured and tracked (preferred methods are UPS or Fedex.)
Does it cost anything to get an ILL?
Generally we can fill your request for free. If there is a cost for borrowing the item or obtaining a copy we will contact you for your approval.
How can I request ILL materials?
Some databases have an online form you can fill out to request items.
