Franklin Pierce University Campus History: Mountain View Apartments

Franklin Pierce University was founded in 1962 on the shores of Pearly Pond in Rindge, New Hampshire. This guide explores the growth of the campus over the past 50 years.

History of Mountainview Apartments

In 1987, the Pierce Arrow announced that new apartments would be built on the west side of campus, beyond Roach Hill. Mountain View was to be a 4-story building, clapboard siding, and consist of 5 units with 6 apartments in each.  Each apartment would have 2 double bedrooms with walk-in closets, a bath and 1/2, a kitchen, and a living room.    The apartments were intended for upperclassmen. Eckman Construction was the builder.

The Mountain View Apartments were constructed in 1988 for student housing.  This apartment complex was designed to house 120 students.

In 2000 the apartments received new flooring and furniture throughout. In 2001 the apartments received a new roof.

In 2005-6, Mountain View was designated for junior residents only. (Pierce Arrow, 3/16/2005)

In 2014, Mountain View E Tower was designated as a Sustainable Lifestyle living choice.
