Faculty Workshops at the Library: Internet Searching

Session Overview

February 26, 2010 - Internet Searching Tips & Tricks

Presenter: Becca Cahill

While many of us do our Internet searching exclusively via Google, other alternatives deserve a closer look. In this workshop we’ll take a look at the top search engines, Google, Yahoo!, and Bing, and explore their ease of use, search features and result rankings. We will also learn some quick shortcuts that will allow you to target your search with greater precision and winnow out the “junk.” Finally, we’ll talk about some alternative ways of accessing reliable information online that can save time and also help your students as they begin to explore a possible research topic.
