How to use Google Scholar: Set-Up

Using Google Scholar with FPU Resources

What is Google Scholar?

Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com) is a subset of Google which searches scholarly research publications. It can be helpful in searching across a broad range of resources and disciplines. One of the most helpful aspects of Google Scholar, is that it can be set up to link you to the DiPietro Library databases.

Linking Google Scholar and the DiPietro Library databases:

Many articles that may turn up in your Google Scholar search are behind a paywall. But linking Google Scholar to DiPietro Library will alert you to the availability of search results in the library (thereby saving you time and money!).

1. First, head to scholar.google.com. Click click on the button in the upper left hand corner, and select "Settings" at the bottom of the menu.

2. On the menu on the Settings page, select "Library Links."

3. In the search bar on the following page, search for "Franklin Pierce University." You should receive a result for "Franklin Pierce University -- Full-text @ FPU Library." Check the box next to this listing, then click "Save."

The box for "Franklin Pierce University - Full-text @ FPU Library" is checked, and outlined in a red rectangle. The blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page is outlined in a red rectangle.

4. Now when you do a search in Google Scholar, results that are available in full text through DiPietro Library will include a link to the right of the article's title.
