Center for Academic Excellence

We help students achieve their academic potential.

Services for Graduate Students

By the time they reach graduate-level work, students often need and want less support than they did in their first four years of college or university. Students in master's and doctoral programs are also at higher levels of specialization than can be covered by a generalist academic support staff. However, the Center for Academic Excellence is happy to provide certain important services that graduate students still find helpful

  • Disability services: Please see our Disability Services page or contact the Coordinator of Student Accessibility Services to learn more. We will together work with you and your advisor or program coordinator to provide you with equal access to your curriculum.
  •  Presentations and workshops: Staff from the CAE will visit your campus (in-person in NH, electronically in Arizona) to provide workshops on test-taking, learning strategies, citing sources in your writing, tutor training, orientation, and more. Your instructor, program coordinator or advisor contact us to request a session.
  • Academic support: Some students set up regular phone appointments for several weeks when they want some extra help staying on track. Staff from the CAE can talk with you about study strategies, time management, and/or project management, providing non-judgemental support together with a sense of personal accountability.
  • Writing refresher: Many graduate students worry that they are unprepared to write their first academic assignments, especially if they need to cite sources, have been away from school for a period, or are not confident of their writing style or mechanics. Contact the CAE to book a phone or email appointment with Tracy Mendham for general writing help.
