Students can borrow a laptop for use in the DiPietro Library

Policy

Policy for Laptop Loans

The DiPietro Library will make five laptops from the IDEAL Center available for loan to current FPU students for in-library use.

  • The laptops will be kept in the laptop cabinet in the circulation department.

  • Only circulation assistants and library staff on duty may retrieve laptops.

  • The student must present their current FP ID card to check out a laptop.

  • The student must read and sign Policy for Laptop Use and User Agreement.

  •  A laptop will be checked-out to a student for four hours, in-library use only.

  • There is no renewal.

  • Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Laptops may not be reserved for specific time periods.

  • The laptop must be returned a half-hour before closing, regardless of the time of check out.

  • The laptop will be inspected upon return for any problems or damage.

  • Late return, damage or other abuse of this borrowing privilege will be noted in the user’s library record and possible restriction or revocation of borrowing privileges at the discretion of the University Librarian.

  • Users agree to abide by the FPU Student Computer Use policy.

Fines and Liability

  • Use of a laptop implies full acceptance of this statement of Fines and Liability.
  • Any fines or charges will be applied to the student’s account via the Office of Student Financial Services.
  • Fines and charges include:
    • A $100.00 non-refundable fee if the laptop is removed from the library during the loan period and loss of borrowing laptop privileges.
    • A $10.00 overdue fine if the laptop is returned late.
    • Any damage or repair charges determined by the FPU IT Department.
    • A $1000.00 replacement charge if the laptop is not returned or if it is damaged beyond repair.
