Where to find up-to-date and credible resources regarding Covid19

How to Clean Your Smartphone

Your phone is a disease magnet. Here's how to safely disinfect it and the rest of your gear to help you stay healthy as coronavirus spreads.

Sanitize Your Smartphone

  1. Be gentle when cleaning your device.
  2. Do not use abrasive cleaning solutions like Clorox wipes that can eat away at oleophobic coating.
  3. Power down device, remove any cases, and unplug any accessories.
  4. Use a microfiber cloth or anything that's soft and won't scratch your phone.
  5. Start cleaning without using any fluids.
  6. If needed, use warm and soapy water--use sparingly.
  7. Carefully dry device with a new cloth.
  8. Avoid getting excess moisture around ports and buttons.

Clean Your Keyboards and Mouse

  1. Peripheral devices are more durable, so you can clean them more aggressively.
  2. Start by shaking device to knock loose debris.
  3. Use disinfectant wipes to wipe device, but avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals like bleach.
  4. Keyboards and mice aren't usually waterproofed: keep moisture to a minimum and dry everything off.
  5. Other cleaning options include:
    • Compressed air cans
    • Keyboard cleaning gel
