I have been spending more time sewing, doing jig saw puzzles (1000 pieces), and playing board games - including of course Pandemic.
Evening Reference Librarian Mary Anne Blauert has been looking through the many "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" illustrated books in her own collection enjoying all the ways various illustrators have portrayed "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland."
Several years ago Mary Anne compiled a DiPietro Library LibGuide: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland: Artists and Illustrators.
I have a two-year-old. What's a pastime?
During the pandemic I've begun to practice the harmonica and the concertina again. It's been a long time since I seriously played, but the pandemic has given me some time to devote to both instruments. I perform mainly American and Irish folk songs on both instruments.
At the 2020 Academy Awards ceremony, director Bong Joon Ho said, “Once you overcome the 1-inch-tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films." My family has watched an occasional foreign film or tv show in the past, but this winter we've fallen hard for K-drama. K-drama are shows from South Korea and can be watched in the US on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Viki. Our favorite 'channel' is Viki because its subtitles are crowd-sourced by the Viki subtitling community and frequently include cultural notes that explain 'in-jokes' or subtle language differences. We have enjoyed this glimpse into a different culture so much, that it has been months since I watched a show in English!

Over the past year, I assisted with the launch and development of a website, Horror Obsessive. Horror Obsessive is a new sister site of 25YL, and it launched in October 2020. I have been writing and editing for 25YL Media for almost two years now. I certainly would have worked on this site if there never even was a pandemic, but not being able to go out gave me a lot more time to dedicate to this project!
